Alright, so as promised in my last post on the main blog page, I'm going to be talking about where I'm headed to university and why I chose the school that I will be attending this autumn. The school I will be attending is called St. Bonaventure University, and it's in a small town in New York, about two hours south of Buffalo.
I have committed to St. Bonaventure because of its wonderful medical program. The program is a dual degree program that will reserve a seat for me at Lake Eerie College of Osteopathic Medicine, providing that I maintain the right GPA and take the right classes, which shouldn't be too hard, since the program waives the MCAT.
However, I will be moving across the country from California to New York, which concerns me a little. I'm not too worried about the distance itself, but I am concerned about the weather, as I consider 50-60 degree weather to be cold (yay for Cali weather!!!). I'll probably get used to it though, so the weather shouldn't be too bad. I think my main potential issue is the lack of diversity at SBU; when I visited, the students there were either Caucasian or Indian. Not that race really matters for the friends that I will be making, but I will be definitely be missing my culture. Here in San Jose, there is a thriving Vietnamese community that I am very involved in. Moving to a place with one Vietnamese person (me) is going to be a huge shocker for me, and that's probably going to be the hardest thing to get used to.
Anyways, that's it for this post; thanks for reading :)
